Behind the Scenes of My Writing Process: From Burnout to Breakthroughs
Hello everyone!
This past week, I’ve been in the thick of speedwriting some intense scenes for my latest chapter, and I definitely felt a bit of burnout—haha! So now, I’m catching my breath and contemplating how to tackle the next scene. Anyone else need a break when the creative flow gets a little too intense?
For this upcoming scene, it’s a critical one: a breakdown before a great battle, paired with a poisoning that sets everything in motion. The poisoning has to come first before the outbreak of war, so I’m carefully thinking through the dialogue and exactly how the enemy should execute it. It has to be clever and feel natural, which makes it a real work in progress. I can’t write the scene until I can clearly visualize it the way I want it to unfold. Can anyone else relate to that struggle?
I thought this might give you a little insight into how I work through my writing process. I suppose every writer has their own approach!
A few weeks ago, before summer break was over, we visited Greece. I can’t believe summer is over and autumn is already here! Of course, here in Turkey, it still feels like summer during the day, but mornings and nights are cooler. The weather ranges from 15°C to 28°C, making this the best season here! Meanwhile, back in Sweden, it’s already snowing!
Beyond writing, I’ve also been navigating the world of blogging. It’s a whole new challenge for me! My email list isn’t working quite right, and I’m still figuring out how to set up pages and categories. But I really like the design so far, even if it’s a bit minimalist right now. I had envisioned more burgundy, gray, and white, so I might tweak that later. For now, it’s simple but works—and sometimes that’s good enough.
Meanwhile, life at home has been pretty hectic. The kids are under the weather, so we’re all recuperating together with hearty stew and plenty of tea. If you’re reading this, I hope you’re healthy, and if not, I’m sending you all the positive vibes for a speedy recovery!
Soon, I’ll share more about the books I’m working on. I’ve been writing quite a lot since 2020, ever since the world turned upside down during the pandemic. Remember how stressful everything felt back then? It’s strange to think about now, but in those difficult days, writing became my escape. It’s been my go-to source of relaxation, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more updates on my projects! Happy writing (and reading) to all of you!
