Grandma’s Basic Minced Meat Pie Recipe

Grandma’s Basic Minced Meat Pie Recipe

Hello everyone!

Unfortunately, my kids are still under the weather, so tonight we’re having leftover mercimek soup with bone marrow and bread for dinner. I’m keeping things simple until I can catch up on some much-needed sleep! I’ll be postponing my makeup blog post until I feel more refreshed and inspired. Thank you for your understanding!

I recently made my grandmother’s basic pie recipe I told you about, and it was a hit! I filled it with sautéed minced meat, onions, bell peppers, and garlic. Here’s how you can make it step by step:

Ingredients:

For the Pie Crust:

3 dl flour

125 g butter

3 tbsp water

A pinch of salt

For the Filling:

150 g minced meat (ground meat)

1 onion, chopped

1 bell pepper, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

Salt and pepper to taste

Egg Mixture:

3 eggs

3 dl milk

Spices (to taste)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).

2. Make the Pie Crust:

In a bowl, mix flour and salt.

Cut in the butter until crumbly.

Gradually add water to form a dough.

Roll out the dough and place it in a pie dish.

3. Pre-Bake the Crust:

Bake the crust for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from the oven.

4. Prepare the Filling:

In a skillet, sauté the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic until softened.

Add the minced meat and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.

5. Make the Egg Mixture:

In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and spices.

6. Assemble the Pie:

Spread the meat and vegetable filling evenly over the crust.

Pour the egg mixture on top.

7. Bake:

Return to the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the egg is set and the top is lightly browned. Check that the bottom is golden and not beige or burnt.

8. Serve:

Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
