Late Night Thoughts, Cover Art Decisions, and Scene Progress!

Late Night Thoughts, Cover Art Decisions, and Scene Progress!

Hello everyone! I must have had too much caffeine, because now I’m wide awake with insomnia, lol. Yesterday, I was exploring some new tech and ended up creating a soundtrack for my book just because it was fun to try out. The software is called Brev. Not sure why they named it that—it’s the Swedish word for “letter,” which seems like an odd choice for something music-related, but hey, it works!

On the writing front, I finally mapped out my upcoming war scene. I’ve been struggling with these scenes lately; ever since that marathon writing session a few weeks ago, I feel like my new scenes are moving along so slowly. Usually, I rely on discipline to keep things flowing, but right now, I find myself needing more time to think, digest, and get in the right mood. I guess my mind’s a little off!

Still, it’s progress, even if it’s slower than usual. I decided to pair up my characters for maximum emotional impact and character development that fits each of their arcs. I think it’ll add a nice layer to the scene! Now I just need to choose some varied weapon options to mix things up a bit.

And, exciting news: the cover for my book is in the making, and it’s coming along so beautifully! I’m super excited to see it all come together—I think it’s really going to capture the feel of the story.

Here’s a little behind-the-scenes update: I made a mood board for the cover and am struggling to choose between realism and watercolor for the style. I get six revisions, and I’ve only asked for one so far. I love both styles, but I’ve been a little hooked on watercolor lately. Should I stick with my current obsession, or try to look at it with fresh eyes? What do you all think?

Question for you all: When you’re reading or writing a battle scene, what details make it feel most intense or realistic for you? Let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
